I came out to my girlfriend a month after we started dating. I had previously been married and felt like I couldn’t transition in that marriage. After I started to fall in love with my current girlfriend, I couldn’t allow myself to stay in a relationship where I couldn’t transition. So, I told her. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. She was amazing. She was so understanding and compassionate. Now we’ve been together 13 months. That’s right, it’s been a year since I came out to her. We still don’t know where this road will lead. She isn’t certain she can stay with me after I fully transition. But we’re walking this road together which is better than walking alone.
