Transition is expensive. A listener writes in to ask, what's the harm with starting an OnlyFans account to help with the costs? Chasers are creepy, but money is money. She's got systems in place to ensure her anonymity and safety. What do you think?
Topics in this episode include:
Usury laws
Bible says don't charge interest when you lend money, but Christians still seem to like it for some reason.
"Caveat" means an old-fashioned necktie, we're pretty sure.
Don't Fuck With Cats taught us people can locate you based on your images, if they're motivated enough.
NYC paramedic outed (correction: not fired) for having an OnlyFans account.
The concept of "less dead" in criminal justice
Porn actress Asia Carrera retired to Utah because no one looks at porn in Utah.
Speaking of Utah: the only thing better than the breathtaking canyon walls of Zion National Park were the cute Utah queers we encountered there. We see you and we love you.
Faith does not love driving in Phoenix AZ.
Listen past the end credits for sounds of one of our dogs sleep- barking!
Buy Faith's book! It's the mid 1990s, and a high school guy in Georgia is grappling with his queerness, his faith, his friends, and his future in Disgusta by Faith DaBrooke.

Faith finished her time in the hospital and is now home, recovering. Her final day as an inpatient was an ordeal. Post-op care is going much better at home.

11 Rapid-Fire Questions From Reddit (fixed audio)

An awesome Redditor sent Faith 11 great questions and we go through them all, bam bam bam, for your listening pleasure.
The Pitch Drop Experiment is a demonstration of viscosity where pitch in a funnel yields one very slow drop every 7-9 years (until the lab installed air conditioning which then slowed the rate of drippage too ever 12-13 years).

Vaginoplasty 101 Part II
Tuesday Mar 03, 2020
Tuesday Mar 03, 2020
Post-surgical recovery, physical therapy, and the patient panel were in the second part of the NYU-Langone day-long class in vaginoplasty. Faith got antsy toward the end of the class but Kath took her to the Waterfront Ale House right after (1 block away) and everything was okay.
Peggy Huddleston wants you to heal from surgery faster. Visualization and breathing have empirical data supporting them but reiki lacks reliable evidence at this time. Trick or Treatment is a great book that looks at high-quality scientific publications about several alternative medical practices.

Vaginoplasty 101 Part I
Tuesday Feb 25, 2020
Tuesday Feb 25, 2020
NYU-Langone offers a day-long class in vaginoplasty for women who have their GRS scheduled in the near future. Caregivers are able to attend too! So we went, listened, took notes, asked questions, and ate sandwiches. We learned SO MUCH that we couldn't fit it all into one episode. We could barely fit it into two. So enjoy these mega-episodes!
A hand mirror is recommended for looking at one's brand-new vagina. Your phone, or a compact, won't work. Sure, any hand mirror will do. But here, we like to go big or go home.
Psychology Today can help you find a therapist. (That's the US link, so go here if you're Canadian, Mexican, or if you live outside North America.)
The OUT Foundation partnered with NYU-Langone for the class. They can provide resources for people traveling for their GRS, and seem pretty cool overall. They have an inclusive gym finder, host the Big Gay Field Day , and started the Don't Be An Asshole Tour.

Monday Jan 20, 2020
Monday Jan 20, 2020
If there's a medical reason (or any other reason) that makes HRT impossible for you, are you screwed? Thanks to a great question sent in by listener N.R. whose pulmonary embolism makes HRT too risky for her, Faith and Kath discuss what other options exist. They also think up terrible metaphors.

BREASTS! Faith discusses her recent breast augmentation surgery: the ordeal itself (not bad), the immediate followup (kind of bad), and the weeks since then (not great, but getting better every day). Supporting A Gender-Questioning Partner
Sunday Dec 15, 2019
Sunday Dec 15, 2019
Awesome partner Jenny asked us "I was wondering if you could discuss the gender spectrum a bit and what it means to be gender questioning. My partner doesn't really know how they feel but they know that they don't feel entirely their assigned gender. As a straight cis woman, I am having a really hard time understanding these feelings and what to do, if anything, to support them in helping them figure out what makes them most comfortable." We discuss how labels can be both helpful and unhelpful, the kinds of questions necessary, what societal strictures should be ignored, and the frustrations Jenny's partner may encounter.

Even Introverts Need A Community
Thursday Aug 01, 2019
Thursday Aug 01, 2019
Ugh, MORE talk about the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference?? Yes but this will be the last episode where we go over the PTWC the until next year, we promise. But all you wonderful listeners who stopped to talk with us at PTWC got us drunk on dopamine, so all this Philly material is kind of your fault. But it also brings up the importance of community, even to introverted misanthropes like ourselves. While online communities are invaluable and even lifesaving, there's just something about being in a room full of people like you.

Is 2019 a Bad Time to Come Out Trans?
Thursday Jul 04, 2019
Thursday Jul 04, 2019
Is the political climate right now conducive to coming out trans? In this week's episode we answer a listener question: "Someone close to me has come out to me as trans and I’m so proud of her but so many things in the news scare me. I know she finds them scary too. I just wonder, if you were facing starting a transition in today’s world, would you? Would any of the threats to trans rights going on today give you pause if you were still at the beginning of this process?"

Thursday Mar 28, 2019
Does transition ever go exactly according to plan? In this episode, Faith and Kath go through the old "Transition Timeline" document that Faith had created prior to even starting HRT. HRT: Should I Tell My Parents?
Thursday Jan 03, 2019
Thursday Jan 03, 2019
How open should you be about expressing your true gender if people aren't supportive? In this episode we answer a listener question from Quinn who writes "I'm planning on getting HRT, and I really don't want to hide it from my parents, but I think I will have to. I just don't feel comfortable with talking to them about my gender because they said they weren't ready for the change. I am going to go through with getting HRT no matter what, but should I let them know? I don't want to hide this from them, but if I tell them I don't know if they will let me go through with it, even though I am an adult and get to make my own medical decisions."

Erections & Squirrels
Thursday Dec 20, 2018
Thursday Dec 20, 2018
Hormones can change a lot. But how much do they affect ones sexual arousal? In this episode we'll answer two different (but related) questions from listeners Sammie and Cici. They write: "We are a cis woman and trans woman in the early stages of hormone therapy and have a question for you: Erections!? Sammie’s doc told her that the end of erections is how they judge the success of the hormone therapy! Yikes! Maybe this question is too X-rated for the podcast but we are feeling conflicted about parting with Sammie’s erections.
One thing Sammie has been and is still hoping for is the"remarkable clearing of the mind,"the "sense of relief" described by trans women "that comes from eliminating their masculine sex drive, which had previously interrupted their thoughts like a car alarm that couldn't be shut off." Sammie wonders, will the “Squirrel!” like effect of girls' curves in yoga pants ever diminish? Is there tranquility ahead? Would love to hear the experience and thoughts of you, Kath and Faith, as well as our fellow gender rebels in podcast land."

What is the Sorting Hat's actual methodology of personality assessment? Is the Sorting Hat clairvoyant? And the name "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry" is so binary. What do enbies do?

Trans Wellness Conference, Philadelphia 2018
Friday Aug 10, 2018
Friday Aug 10, 2018
The amazing people at the Mazzoni Center in Philadelphia have done it again. They organize the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference every year. This is a gathering of trans and cis doctors, lawyers, therapists, scientists, professors, vendors, social workers, health insurance insiders, artists, activists, poets, writers, YouTubers, podcasters, clergy, parents, nurses, comedians, entrepeneurs, and even a witch. All these fine people come together to work towards a world with greater access to resources and acceptance of transfolks. They present workshops, give talks, throw parties, and discuss and celebrate YOU. We describe our experience of our first year at the conference: the talks we heard (Seeing Myself in the Bible: Gender Minorities in Scripture, My Journey With Illegal Silicone Injections, Communication With Your Cis Partner, Getting FFS and Breast Implants Covered By Insurance, The Road To Desired Vocal Identity), the events we attended, and the joy of meeting some of our listeners in person! We hope we see you there next year!

How to Get on Hormones
Thursday Mar 22, 2018

Taking hormones can be a huge part of starting transition, but how does one get HRT? In this episode we answer a listener question from Mia who asks "I want to get on hormones, but am having trouble figuring out how to get access to hormones? Who can I talk to about this?"
If you are in the greater NYC area, check out Callen-Lorde Community Health Center. Planned Parenthood also provides HRT services among other important health care work. You can also search for transgender health care providers here.
