Thursday Apr 18, 2019
Thursday Apr 18, 2019
No one wants to get called by their dead name. But what if you can't escape your former name? In this episode we answer the question "What do you do if someone in your life—coworkers, roommate, zeppelin maintenance technician—has your dead name and you still have to hear it all the time?"
Faith's sad instagram post that we mention at the top of the episode.

Are Transgender People in League with Satan?
Thursday Apr 11, 2019
Thursday Apr 11, 2019
In this episode we tackle the twisted world of Celebrity Transgender Conspiracy believers. Are Hollywood studios, the CIA, and many of our favorite stars actually involved in a widespread Satanic plot to poison minds with secret transgender operatives? Was Taylor Swift assigned male at birth? Is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson actually a transman? Fear not, the Gender Rebels are on the case.

Does transition ever go exactly according to plan? In this episode, Faith and Kath go through the old "Transition Timeline" document that Faith had created prior to even starting HRT. We'll explore how sometimes transition can be smooth, other times life throws you a curve-ball, and how reality can often diverge from even the best laid plans.

How to be Trans on a Boat
Thursday Mar 21, 2019
Thursday Mar 21, 2019
Being transgender isn't always easy. And that's just on land! What about on a boat? In this episode we answer a listener question from Jeff who writes "Cruises are a super fun and generally safe way to be your true self without worrying about who you know might see you, or whether someone is judging you, but there are some peculiarities. Namely, getting through security when your passport's gender marker or name doesn't match your gender presentation, going ashore in a culture which may not be as educated about trans issues, dealing with cruise lines' various policies about gender expression, and of course, the bathing suit dilemma. I would sooooo love to spend a day in a bikini in the Caribbean, but I'm deeply concerned about how I'll be treated by the cruise line, the ship's staff, and how to remain safely tucked so I'm not viewed as 'the freak on the boat' people are staring at.

Being Transgender in the Star Wars Galaxy
Thursday Mar 14, 2019
Thursday Mar 14, 2019
So with the Gender Rebels logo as it is, why don't we talk about Star Wars? This episode is inspired by iTunes reviewer Settlechaos who writes "First of all this podcast has nothing to do with Star Wars." Well, Settlechoas, that is about to change. In this episode we are looking at what life would be like for a transgender person, droid, clone, or alien in the Star Wars Galaxy. And by the way this episode will contain spoilers - in case you happen to be in that small Venn overlap of people who want to see the Star Wars films but just haven't quite managed to get around it to.

Traveling While Trans
Thursday Mar 07, 2019
Thursday Mar 07, 2019
Will transition change where you go on vacation? For this episode we answer a listener question from Jane who writes "How has transition change the places you go or the things that you do? It's pretty well known that not all places are welcoming of LGBT families. Are there places that you will not visit now, or places that you do visit now? Here is a personal example. Two years ago my family took a rode trip from our home in Washington State to Detroit and back. Last year we flew to Germany and visited many German towns and the city of Prague. A huge bucket list item for me is to see first hand the changes to Yellowstone National Park after the reintroduction of wolves. Are any of these trips something you would consider as an LGBT couple?"

TW: Discussion of suicide.
.
.
.
LGBTQ people often have to deal with rejection, despair, or loneliness. Sometimes that can lead to a particularly dark place. In this episode we look at the story of transgender girl Leelah Alcorn who, after coming out to her religious parents, faced rejection, isolation, and abuse that led her to take her own life at the young age of 17.
If you or someone you know may be at risk of suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. If you’re a young LGBTQ person and need to talk to someone, call The Trevor Project’s 24-hour crisis hotline for youth at 1-866-488-7386. If you are a transgender person of any age, call the Trans Lifeline at 877-565-8860.

Passing? Thanks, But I'll Pass
Friday Feb 15, 2019
Friday Feb 15, 2019
Who cares about passing? It's not everyone's goal and sometimes it's just a realistic goal. So how does that affect transition? This week we answer a question we got off twitter. The listener asks "I'm a transwoman and musician and podcaster and love your podcast. But I would love to have a conversation about being a transwoman that doesn't pass or care to, that deals with another side of the same situation you are in. Simply because I hear many instances that could potentially and do trigger and wish someone could interject at times to clarify. Also I'm not white and have a platform and am very visible. Could be a great talk on our podcast or yours."

Gender Conformity
Thursday Feb 07, 2019
Thursday Feb 07, 2019
Does being transgender mean you have to accept binary gender roles? In this episode we answer two different listener questions. Hanna writes "How does one know what to change when transitioning? This seems related to the pressure everyone feels on some level to embody the vague collective ideals of one's multiple social roles (gender or otherwise), but trans people have extra baggage from another role they inhabited before choosing to live a different one. How have you navigated this in your transition? Is there anything you started doing differently after transitioning only to realize it didn't really feel like you?" Riley writes "Do you think society puts unfair pressure on binary trans folx to uphold gender stereotypes, for fear of the perception that you're not putting enough effort into your gender presentation?"

Bringing Others Into the Closet with You
Thursday Jan 24, 2019
Thursday Jan 24, 2019
Is coming out to one person really coming out? Or are you just inviting them into the closet with you? In this episode we'll answer a listener question on the difficulties of only being out to some, but not all, the people in your life. Our listener asks "When I came out it was a huge strain on my relationship with my mother. Both my father and sister separately told me that one of the things that was a strain on my mom was the fact I wasn’t coming out to everyone, but it was put on everyone else to tell people (or not). This was a big emotional and mental burden for her she didn’t want to carry it. When you come out to someone you are there and somewhat prepared for the questions but are your friends family ready to answer questions? Because if they aren’t ready to handle it what happens when the person who just learned this has to process all this emotionally in a bubble?"

Transition Envy
Thursday Jan 17, 2019
Thursday Jan 17, 2019
Transition is already hard. Seeing other people's amazing results can sometimes make things even harder. In this episode we answer a question from a listener who writes "I have a partner who is trans masculine and has been on HRT for a year and just got top surgery two days ago. While watching them go through their transition I have come to the realization that I too am NOT cis. I now identify as GNC or non-binary/trans. I am now struggling with extreme gender dysphoria and even worse jealousy of my partner being so far in their transition. Do you have any tips on how to not let your jealousy of your partner's growth and transition get you down about yourself or make you resent them? I want to be 100% supportive of them but I find myself being so jealous of their new chest that I can't help but to cry about my own dysphoria in return."

Does God Make Mistakes?
Thursday Jan 10, 2019
Thursday Jan 10, 2019
Does transition mean going against God's plan? In this episode we answer a listener question from a transwoman. She asks "I am finally taking steps necessary to create the happiness and peace I need in my life through transition. I have come out to some people who are very close to me but have not come out to my parents. I have this itching feeling that my mom knows. She confronted my fiancé about me and one of her comments was 'I’m okay with being gay but transgender is something different. God doesn’t make mistakes when it comes to gender.' What is your take on religion and gender?" So does God mistakes with gender?

HRT: Should I Tell My Parents?
Thursday Jan 03, 2019
Thursday Jan 03, 2019
How open should you be about expressing your true gender if people aren't supportive? In this episode we answer a listener question from Quinn who writes "I'm planning on getting HRT, and I really don't want to hide it from my parents, but I think I will have to. I just don't feel comfortable with talking to them about my gender because they said they weren't ready for the change. I am going to go through with getting HRT no matter what, but should I let them know? I don't want to hide this from them, but if I tell them I don't know if they will let me go through with it, even though I am an adult and get to make my own medical decisions."

Dating as a Crossdresser
Thursday Dec 27, 2018
Thursday Dec 27, 2018
Dating is already hard enough. Adding crossdressing to the mix can make things even more difficult. In this episode we answer a listener question from Natasha who asks "I'm a cis male, straight crossdresser with no intent to transition. After purging and buying clothes/breastforms/makeup for the what feels like the 20th time in a row, I'm done suppressing the femme side of me. The problem lies in relationships; while I've had several girls crush on me, I've never gotten the courage to ask any of them out for fear of ruining the relationship, or them not accepting me. I don't want to be the stereotypical "crossdressing husband/boyfriend" whose girl 'puts up with it and survives.' My question is: What tips would you give a straight crossdresser for finding a potential partner?"

Erections & Squirrels
Thursday Dec 20, 2018
Thursday Dec 20, 2018
Hormones can change a lot. But how much do they affect ones sexual arousal? In this episode we'll answer two different (but related) questions from listeners Sammie and Cici. They write: "We are a cis woman and trans woman in the early stages of hormone therapy and have a question for you: Erections!? Sammie’s doc told her that the end of erections is how they judge the success of the hormone therapy! Yikes! Maybe this question is too X-rated for the podcast but we are feeling conflicted about parting with Sammie’s erections.
One thing Sammie has been and is still hoping for is the"remarkable clearing of the mind,"the "sense of relief" described by trans women "that comes from eliminating their masculine sex drive, which had previously interrupted their thoughts like a car alarm that couldn't be shut off." Sammie wonders, will the “Squirrel!” like effect of girls' curves in yoga pants ever diminish? Is there tranquility ahead? Would love to hear the experience and thoughts of you, Kath and Faith, as well as our fellow gender rebels in podcast land."

In this week's episode we'll tackle the important question of whether Faith should come out as a transwoman to her highly conservative and religious grandmother. I’ve come out as trans to everyone in my life at this point, but there are a few who still aren’t getting it. They use the wrong pronouns, name, and never apologize. It’s been several months now and these 'problem people' are unavoidable. They’re at my work. In my family. And even a roommate. Thursday Oct 25, 2018
Thursday Oct 25, 2018
(Note: skip to 16:29 for the BEST costume for closeted/ questioning MtFs seeking last-minute ideas.) Listener Jaylah is still male-presenting, and she asks if she can use a Halloween party as an opportunity to girl up for the first time. Her important colleagues and awesome new friends will be at the party. Or will it raise too many eyebrows? The tricky theme for the party just increases the challenge level. We say go for it, but of course you need an awesome costume, so we give lots of good suggestions. The Gender Rebels believe in you, Jaylah!

What is the Sorting Hat's actual methodology of personality assessment? Is the Sorting Hat clairvoyant? And the name "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry" is so binary. What do enbies do?
